Industries Served

MANUFACTURING
The Manufacturing industry is a goods producing industry which encompasses businesses involved in mechanical, chemical or physical transformation of materials, components or substances into new or finished products.  Based on preparation of products, processing or fabrication from raw materials and commodities, the Manufacturing industry is closely connected with engineering and industrial design.  Richmond Engineering Works has provided design engineering services and upgrades to the Manufacturing industry through coal electricity generation, steel production, cement manufacturing, grain handling, alumina refineries, titanium production, paper manufacturers, industrial chemical production and pharmaceuticals.

POWER GENERATION
Electricity generation includes all technologies that turn some form of energy into useful electric energy. Richmond Engineering Works has provided design engineering services and upgrades to the Power Generation industry through coal-fired power generation facilities, nuclear power plants, geothermal power plants, biomass-fueled power plants, waste-heat power facilities, and solar-thermal power facilities.

POWER DISTRIBUTION
Power Distribution Control Systems are dedicated systems used to control manufacturing processes that are continuous or batch-oriented, such as oil refining, petrochemicals, central station power generation, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage manufacturing, cement production, steelmaking, and papermaking. Power Distribution Control Systems are connected to sensors and actuators and use set-point controls to control the flow of material through the plant. Richmond Engineering Works has designed, supplied and commissioned control systems utilizing motor-generator sets with Amplidyne™, Amplistat™, and Rototrol™ regulators. Our engineered projects include the removal of vintage sub-panels, relays, contactors, and resistors, as well as the installation of new front-wired equipment, logically designed for easy installation and commissioning.

WATER TREATMENT
Energy costs play an important role in the efficient operation of wastewater treatment plants. The electrical operation of the plant must be dependable, easy to operate, and designed to address future expansion needs. Richmond Engineering Works can provide new electrical upgrades to the power generation system, automatic transfer switch, service entrance equipment, motor control center, including PLC’s, and other electrical work.

PROCESSING
Process manufacturing is the production of goods that are typically produced in bulk quantities, as opposed to discrete and countable units. Process manufacturing industries include chemicals, food and beverage, gasoline, paint, and pharmaceutical. Richmond Engineering Works provides design engineering services and upgrades to a variety of process industries.

POLLUTION CONTROL
Fly ash is one kind of waste produced by coal-fired power plants. Pollution control equipment used in coal combustion captures fly ash from the chimneys of coal plants. Fly ash and bottom ash that are removed from the base of coal furnaces are often referred to simply as coal ash (sourcewatch.org). Richmond Engineering Works has designed, supplied, and commissioned control systems that uniquely deploys dependable and easy-to-operate HMI systems for this type of pollution control.
