Richmond Engineering Works (REW) has vast experience with electrical controls, drives, PLCs, HMIs, electrical houses, operator cabs, etc. We have our own in-house panel shop to facilitate a more controlled atmosphere to install, wire, program electrical panels and host a customer Factory Acceptance Test (FAT). We provide inspections to analyze your existing system, upgrades to existing equipment, and new systems for newly built machines.
REW has extensive experience with today’s high-tech, as well as “vintage”, drive systems. Modern drives are capable of communication with the control system via multiple platforms, Ethernet being the most common. The drive information is then available to operations and maintenance personnel for day-to-day operation of the equipment, troubleshooting, trending, etc. We offer expert drive system support in the form of integrated system design, installation supervision, and technical service of all types of AC motors, DC motors, motor controllers, motor-generator sets, and drives.
Our System Integrators have Specified, Designed, Supplied, Programmed, and Commissioned a Variety of Products Including:
We Offer a Full Range of Control System Design Services Utilizing Drives from:
Whether your needs call for optimizing controllers, replacing a relay control system, or providing support and / or an upgrade of an existing system, REW can custom design and program a PLC application for any DCS or SCADA system.
Experts in PLC Programming, We have Designed, Supplied and Commissioned Systems Using:
From simple push-button and switch replacements, to complete SCADA systems, REW can custom engineer an HMI solution to suit all of your plant floor and machine control needs.
We have Experience with HMI Development Packages from:
REW offers a fully outfitted panel shop. We can engineer, design and construct electrical control panels to suit any application. Each enclosure is quality checked in-house and a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) can be performed on each panel to ensure that it operates according to specification before it leaves our shop. Having our own dedicated panel shop ensures that our customers receive control and drive panels of the highest quality in a timely manner.
Richmond Engineering Works assembles E-houses and operator cabs in our panel shop, as well. The basic structure, which is normally stainless-steel, arrives and we install, wire and program all of the PLC, HMI, drive and control panels to our customers’ specifications. All electrical panels are wired and tested before they leave for the site. Installation days / hours can be reduced due to the E-houses and operator cabs being pre-wired and tested. The structure is climate controlled and corrosion resistant for durability and extended life. In most new cabs, we install an ergonomic chair with joystick controls in the arms and wall mounted HMIs for ease of operating and to lower operator fatigue. Upgrading to a new E-house or operator’s cab can provide ease of maintenance and troubleshooting with equipment centralized in one location.
REW has worked and trained with engineers from this era of electrical design. We are proud to be one of the few companies capable of this scope of work. We have designed, supplied and commissioned control systems using motor-generator sets with Amplidyne™, Amplistat™, and Rototrol™ regulators. Our engineered projects include the removal of vintage sub-panels, relays, contactors, and resistors, as well as the installation of new front-wired equipment, logically designed for easy installation and commissioning.
