Bucket Wheel Stacker Reclaimers

Bucket Wheel Stacker Reclaimers

Richmond Engineering Works (REW) specializes in the design, engineering, and system integration, including inspections and upgrades, for the work horses of the coal yard; the bucket wheel stacker reclaimer. Our stacker reclaimers are designed as either rail-mounted or mobile (on crawler tracks) and can be trenching or slewing type machines. Our trenching stacker reclaimers are designed to reclaim or stack out while traveling. This creates a linear stack along a yard rail. These are very efficient machines, offering continuous reclaim or stack out operation along the length of the yard.

Our stacker reclaimers are custom engineered to production requirements at individual locations. Our talented and experienced engineering staff are able to adapt the base design of our machines to any site-specific need. We will identify the challenges and understand the production needs to develop a machine that will improve your material control process. Our stacker reclaimers range from 1,500 tons per hour (tph) to 4,000 tph, with room to grow.

Our spoked “cell-less” buckets are designed to reclaim a variety of bulk materials such as coal, iron ore, limestone, etc. With hardened steel buckets and ceramic lined chutes, our stacker reclaimers can stand the test of time. The inevitable maintenance duties to maintain reliability are eased with intelligent connections that make bucket changeouts possible in under a day. Chute liners are drop in replaceable for simple and quick changeouts. No welding or cutting necessary.

Features and Upgrades may Include:

  • New PLC controls to replace old electro-mechanical relays to reduce maintenance and increase reliability.

  • Replace existing travel and slew drives with vector drives paired with motors to aid in machine load share, acceleration and deceleration.

  • Replace and / or relocate the existing operator’s cab. Our new cabs have more room, visibility, and are outfitted with new ergonomical and comfortable operator chairs with integrated arm rest controls.
  • Operator cab leveling systems by means of: gravity (hanging cab), active or passive hydraulic.

  • Nearly total automation – By automating with fiber optics or radio modems, ethernet cameras and controls, operation of the machine can be done remotely (or locally).

  • Hydraulic power unit and cylinder replacement. Our systems utilize proportional control for smoother operation and counterbalance or velocity fuses for safety.

  • Replace old style height and positioner sensors with state-of-the-art sensors such as lasers, encoders and proximity switches. Adding an HMI Operator Interface System gives the operator a complete overview of the machine’s operational status locally and / or remotely. Integration of HMI with the conveying system control allows the operator to monitor and control product to end destination.

  • Upgrade to a mono-spiral wound cable reel to assure power cable with imbedded fiber optic reliability and reduce space.
  • Adding an ethernet fiber optic or radio modem allowing voice, video, and control can eliminate the need for the communication cable reel.

  • Provide bucket wheel, buckets, bearing, and shaft replacements.
  • Bucket wheel drive system upgrades.
  • Partial stacker reclaimer refurbishments returning existing machines to original service condition.
  • Conveyor drive system upgrades.

  • Slew bearing replacements including upgrading existing outdated slew systems with new modern ball bearing systems.

  • State-of-the-art auto lubrication systems.

Luffing pin repair and / or replacement including bearings.

Superior machine accessibility including stairs in lieu of ladders and wider walkways for increased safety and maintainability.

Maintenance friendly travel truck wheel and bearing replacement.
