Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat sets REW apart from other Electrical Engineering Firms who specialize in industrial power and control systems? Two things: Diversity and Flexibility. Few firms in the industry today can match our diversity of knowledge and experience. Currently on staff, we have engineers whose technical knowledge includes everything from vintage technology to state of the art, and whose field experience spans three continents. Our past projects include applications spread across numerous industries and clients from small companies to large corporations. We do everything from design complete SCADA systems in our engineering department to wire electrical enclosures in our panel shop. Even fewer firms can match our flexibility when it comes to engineering control systems and operator interfaces. Our engineers do not churn out identical design after design. We blend customer input with our vast field experience to custom engineer a solution that meets your individual needs for a specific application. What is REW's greatest strength? Without question, it is maintaining satisfied customers. We take great pride in the fact that many of our clients come to us as referrals and stay with us as repeat customers. When you contract REW for a project you get outstanding service, superior products, and a competitive price. Period. Does REW troubleshoot existing systems as well as design new systems? Yes. As a matter of fact, it is a large part of our business. Due to our extensive experience with a variety of systems and applications, our engineers are often called upon to assess an existing system and devise a solution to boost its performance. In an emergency, we can be reached 24 hours a day for technical assistance and can be on site anywhere within the U.S. within 24 hours of your call if needed. Does REW have experience with "vintage" motor controllers like Amplidynes, Amplistats, and Rototrols ? Yes we do. Having worked and trained with engineers from this era of electrical design, Richmond Engineering Works is one of only a few companies capable of this scope of work. We have designed, supplied and commissioned control systems utilizing motor-generator sets with Amplidyne, Amplistat, and Rototrol regulators. Our engineered projects include the removal of vintage sub-panels, relays, contactors, and resistors, as well as the installation of new front wired equipment, logically designed for easy installation and commissioning. What type of industries would benefit from REW's services? Potentially, any industry that utilizes an automated process could benefit from our services. Our background includes projects for various material handling, manufacturing, processing, power generation, power distribution, water treatment, and pollution control applications. What "name brand" products do you use? Throughout our history we have used a vast number of products from numerous suppliers. It has always been our practice to use products that best suit the needs of our clients. By not limiting ourselves to certain manufacturers, we have gained extensive experience with a variety of products, including: Allen Bradley , CTC Interact , Cutler Hammer , Fincor , General Electric , Honeywell , Hubbel , Iconics , Intellution , Mag-amp , Magnetek , Microspeed , Modicon , PanelBuilder , Reliance , Robicon , RS View , Sabina , SAF Systems , Saftronics , Siemens , Square D , TCP , Texas Instruments , VBA, Ward-Leonard , Westinghouse , Wonderware , and others.
